Compass Ratings is very simple.

Below is a screenshot of a sample of the ratings.

Click on the image to see it full size.

The 2 top rows show the basic race information.

On the horse specific rows, these are what all the columns mean…

  • # – The Rank. The top rated horse gets a rank of 1, the second rated a rank of 2 and so on.
  • Draw – The stall number that the horse is running from. This is more important at Happy Valley than at Sha Tin.
  • Horse – The name of the horse. In the brackets is the saddlecloth number.
  • Jockey – The name of the Jockey.
  • Trainer – The name of the horse’s trainer.
  • Form – The recent form of the horse.
  • Weight – The handicap weight of the horse.
  • S – The Gender of the horse.
  • CPR – The actual rating for the horse.
  • Conf – Conf is short for confidence.

The second rated horse always has a confidence of 100%

For all the other horses, their Conf (confidence) is their CPR (their actual rating) divided by that of the second rated horse.

This gives you a quick and easy way to see how much better (or worse) one horse is as compared to another in the same race.
